I always love this author's books! This one didn't disappoint- it was just the right amount of sweet and romantic
I loved the characters. It was a short but charming story. And, like the other E.M. Lindsey books I've read, it's not your typical romance. Lindsey's vivid characters and use of language combine into a worthwhile read.
Sweet, sexy, funny-all the things you want in your romance. And a cowboy!
The idea for the story has merit but the way it was written in this book does not quite deliver. There is very little character development and the relationship is instant-love as a result. Raphael and Ilan quickly go from strangers to lovers with little transition. It was only a week together, and it just felt rushed.
EM Lindsey does a great job creating a fully formed story in a short novel. The story takes place within a brief period of time, but it didn’t feel like instalove or even instalust to me. There was certainly immediate attraction, but that’s what I love about romance novels.
It’s written in third person from Ilan’s POV, and it’s so much fun to see the American Southwest and Raphael through his English eyes. Raphael matches the climate he lives in warm, bright, overwhelming. Ilan feels so completely Raphael’s opposite, but through the story we are able to see Ilan’s quiet and serious awkwardness has its own attractions. The characters and the story were interesting, realistic, and well developed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Time to Wake Up.
This author never disappoints me!!
So much to like about this; two interesting characters, a drily funny Brit take on a man, and a beautifully unfolding story. Love this writer. Her work is always so satisfying.
